Purpose of the Position:

The Social Auxiliary Worker will provide psychosocial services under the supervision of a social worker, focusing on HIV Priority Populations Prevention programming.


Minimum Requirements:

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

  • Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work from a recognized institution.

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience.

  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).

  • Proficiency in English and isiXhosa.

  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license.

  • Clear criminal record.


Duties and Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive psycho-social assessments of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and their families.

  • Conducting household profiling using specific profiling tools.

  • Providing a minimum package of community-based care and referrals to social workers/facilities.

  • Supporting social workers in assessing needs and implementing youth care clubs.

  • Submitting monthly reports and maintaining accurate records of patient information and interventions.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

  • Proficiency in computer literacy and IT skills.

  • Competence in stakeholder management.
