Purpose of Job
To support production by leading the provision of effective electro-mechanical equipment maintenance and reliability while ensuring adherence to procedures and optimizing resources to enhance plant and equipment sustainability.
Key Accountabilities
Operations and Maintenance Management:
Plan, control, and manage maintenance activities for effective execution.
Ensure high-quality task execution and effective equipment use.
Manage costs and budgets assigned to maintenance activities.
Emergency Situations:
Evaluate and address abnormalities to avoid downtime and ensure safety.
Team Management and Training:
Oversee team performance and provide coaching to enhance competencies.
Foster a motivated team environment compliant with company values.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and manage the work permit system.
Effective Communication:
Facilitate communication within the team and with other stakeholders.
Participate in staff selection and recruitment panels.
Process Improvement:
Contribute ideas for improving Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Support organizational change initiatives and staff development.
Formal Education and Requirements
Educational Requirements:
Grade 12/N3 (or equivalent) with Maths, Science, and English/Business English.
NQF Level 4 Trade Test (Valid EM Trade Test Certificate - Qualified Electro Mechanic/Millwright).
Certifications:
C_Blasting Certificate (Underground)
C_Gas Testing Certificate
C_Flameproof Certificate
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Underground coal mining experience, particularly in fiery mines, is advantageous.
Skills:
Knowledge of work management processes and maintenance documentation systems.
Competency in troubleshooting technical issues and risk management.
