Purpose of the Job

Provide assistance with general laboratory activities, including sample collection, delivery, and capturing of samples according to prescribed methods, routes, and timeframes.


Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct independent collection and transportation of hazardous chemical samples.

  • Deliver samples to designated analysis locations.

  • Prepare bulk solutions and standards for laboratory use.

  • Collect samples from Sasol 1 and Midland sites at specific times on a 12-hour shift schedule.

  • Register samples in the Laboratory Information System.

  • Distribute samples to various sections within Sasol 1 and Midland laboratories.

  • Remove old samples and return them to their originating plant.

  • Adhere to safety rules and laboratory standing instructions.

  • Conduct inspections of the vehicle used for sample transport.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the area of responsibility.

  • Report any deviations or issues to the supervisor.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics, English, and Physical Science (compulsory).

    • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications.

    • Valid driver's license (Code 8) with over 6 years of full-time driving experience.

    • Proof of driving proficiency (must have own vehicle).

  • Experience:

    • 1 to 2 years of experience, preferably in a chemicals production environment.
