Job Description
As a Merchandiser at Dis-Chem, you will be responsible for ensuring that the store meets Dis-Chem’s high merchandising standards and delivering excellent customer service. Your key responsibilities will include:
Stock Management: Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales and ensure that delivered stock is stored and organized correctly.
Shelf Maintenance: Ensure that products on shelves are visible, well-presented, and have not reached their sell-by dates.
Inventory Reporting: Report low stock levels, damaged items, and assist in stock counting and general stocktaking.
Customer Interaction: Provide friendly and helpful assistance to all customers, addressing queries and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
Visual Merchandising: Maintain the daily upkeep of merchandising displays and store layout per Dis-Chem’s operating standards.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Merchandiser position, candidates must possess:
Essential:
Grade 12 / Matric
Up to 6 months of retail experience
Computer literacy (MS Office)
Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:
At least 1 year of retail experience
Competencies
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Strong command of the English language
Presentable appearance and effective engagement skills
Trustworthiness, honesty, and strong time management skills
Advantageous: Bilingualism, knowledge of the FMCG industry, and ability to analyze stock reports.
Special Conditions of Employment
Candidates must be willing and able to work retail hours, lift and move heavy boxes, have reliable transport, and be South African citizens with clear credit and criminal records.
