We are currently accepting applications for a Fire Fighter Internship to help candidates gain vital experience in fire and rescue operations.


Internship Requirements

To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Fire 1&2, Hazmat Awareness, and Operations are considered equivalent) or any qualification higher or equivalent to Matric or NQF Level 3.

  • First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course certification.

  • Possess a valid Code C Driver’s License.

  • Must be medically and physically fit to conduct operational duties.

  • Ability to swim.

  • Candidates should not have any phobias (e.g., claustrophobia, acrophobia).

  • Previous experience or knowledge related to fire and rescue is an advantage.

  • Must be a hardworking and self-disciplined individual.

  • Any previous internship experience (3 months) will be considered an advantage.


Duties and Responsibilities

As a Fire Fighter Intern, your duties will include:

  • Responding to daily tasks and orders from the Station Officer.

  • Regular attendance at the workplace.

  • Testing and checking of fire vehicles and equipment.

  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and vehicles.

  • Reporting any malfunctions to the officer on duty.

  • Assisting senior personnel in combatting fires by responding to incidents.

  • Adhering to command during fire incidents.

  • Fighting grass, wildland, and structural fires.

  • Protecting property from fires and safeguarding fire equipment.

  • Performing control room duties when required.

  • Undertaking other tasks assigned by supervisors.

  • Participating in rescue operations as necessary.

  • Preference will be given to applicants from the Sedibeng region.
