Main Purpose of the Role
The Sales Assistant will provide overall assistance to customers, ensure stock levels are maintained, process payments at the Point of Sale, and uphold high merchandising standards within the store.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
Qualification: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
Experience: Up to 6 months of retail experience and a minimum of 1 year of work experience within retail.
Advantageous:
Certification in Retail Business Management.
Key Responsibilities
Report low, damaged, or expired stock levels to management.
Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking.
Help with loading and off-loading stock as needed.
Maintain shelves and ensure products are neatly presented and within their sell-by dates.
Restock merchandise when necessary to maximize sales.
Ensure accurate pricing and display of merchandise; report discrepancies.
Stay informed about new products to effectively assist customers.
Handle cash transactions accurately and follow cash handling procedures.
Establish professional relationships with customers, providing friendly and helpful service.
Address customer queries and complaints promptly and effectively.
Competencies
Essential:
Strong command of the English language.
Knowledge of retail operations and administration.
Problem-solving abilities and time management skills.
Trustworthiness and honesty.
Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Special Conditions of Employment
Willing and able to work retail hours.
South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
